As you know, COVID-19, or coronavirus, has been in the news a lot recently. There are now confirmed cases in Ohio. While these cases are located in Cuyahoga County near Cleveland, we are still taking precautions here at school. We are in constant contact with the Franklin County Department of Health, the Ohio Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control. We also receive emails and videos from the Ohio Department of Education.
Below are some things that we are doing on a daily basis at A+ to keep everyone healthy.
- Desks are wiped down every evening with Lysol wipes.
- Teachers have hand sanitizer in the classroom available to everyone.
- Door knobs, towel/soap dispensers and light switches are disinfected a couple times a day.
- Teachers are reminding students to wash their hands for 20 seconds.
As of right now, we will continue doing what we do every day. However, if we were to close school we will have a plan in place so that students will have work to complete while at home. Teachers are going to create bags, similar to Blizzard Bags, that will have work in it for the students. They will also have access to the online programs that we use in class. We will follow the direction of Columbus City Schools for closing.
Information is changing all the time so we will continue to keep you updated on our website and letters home. The health and safety of our staff and students is our number one priority.
For the most reliable information, please visit the CDC website, Ohio Department of Health website, or Columbus Public Health. We recommend you follow CDC guidelines, including those on the CDC travel page. ODH has also created a website for up-to-date information and a call center 1-833-4ASKODH to provide information.
